Celebrating over 200 Years of Irish Heritage and Unity in Montreal
Célébration des 200 ans d’héritage et d’unité irlandaise à Montréal
We have a theme for the parade:
“Emerald Connections: Celebrating over 200 Years of Irish Heritage and Unity in Montreal”
The purpose of this theme is to:
1) To promote Montreal’s multiculturalism,
2) Celebrating Irish Heritage,
3) To highlight the importance that the Irish place on inclusion and community.

We ask the participants to focus their entry on the heritage, culture, community or history of their own country and to incorporate Irish heritage where appropriate. By doing so, you will continue to promote the diversity of this most excellent parade… Montreal’s parade!

Nous avons un thème pour le défilé :
« Emerald Connections : Célébration des 200 ans d’héritage et d’unité irlandaise à Montréal »
Le but de ce thème est de :
1) promouvoir le multiculturalisme de Montréal,
2) célébrer le patrimoine irlandais,
3) souligner l’importance que les Irlandais accordent à l’inclusion et à la communauté.

Nous invitons les participants à axer leur contribution sur le patrimoine, la culture, la communauté ou l’histoire de leur propre pays, tout en y intégrant le patrimoine irlandais le cas échéant. Ce faisant, vous continuerez à promouvoir la diversité de ce défilé des plus excellents : le défilé de Montréal !

Parade FAQs sur le défilé – Participants

The next parade will be on Sunday 22 March 2026 at noon. This will be the 201st year! | Le prochain défilé aura lieu le dimanche 22 mars 2026 à midi. Ce sera la 201e année !
Community-based groups/agencies/municipalities are free to participate. | Les groupes/agences/municipalités communautaires sont libres de participer. For commercial/companies, there is a nominal fee that helps make the parade a success! | Pour les commerciaux/entreprises, il y a des frais nominaux qui contribuent au succès du défilé !
  • $300 for displaying a banner exclusively | pour afficher une bannière exclusivement,
  • $500 for one unit* | pour une unité*,
  • $700 for two units | pour deux unités,
  • $1,500 for a float | pour un char de défilé.

As a group, you can have a maximum of 2 parade “units”. A unit can be 50 walkers, 1 vehicle, or 1 float. Examples:
  • 2 units of 50 walkers (100 max)
  • 1 float + 50 walkers
  • 1 vehicle + 50 walkers
  • 1 vehicle + 1 float
  • 2 vehicles
  • 2 floats
En tant que groupe, vous pouvez avoir un maximum de 2 « unités » de défilé. Une unité peut être composée de 50 marcheurs, 1 véhicule ou 1 char. Exemples :

The route will be similar to last year - downtown Montreal on de Maisonneuve (the parade no longer travels along Sainte-Catherine Street). Details to follow as we approach parade day. This new route is designed to enhance the spectator experience, making it easier to navigate and enjoy the event. / Le parcours sera similaire à celui de l'année dernière : le centre-ville de Montréal sur le boulevard de Maisonneuve (le défilé ne passe plus par la rue Sainte-Catherine). Les détails suivront à l'approche du jour du défilé. Ce nouveau parcours est conçu pour améliorer l'expérience des spectateurs, en facilitant leur navigation et en leur permettant de profiter de l'événement.
Arrival times for participants will depend on your designated section (A, B, C, etc.). You will be given your section a week before parade day. First section opens at 09:00. Last section is 11:30. The parade begins moving at 12:00 (noon) | L’heure d’arrivée des participants dépend de la section à laquelle ils appartiennent (A, B, C, etc.). Votre section vous sera communiquée une semaine avant le jour du défilé. La première section ouvre à 9h00. La dernière section ouvre à 11h30. Le défilé commence à se déplacer à 12h00 (midi)

No. There is a selection process based on the integrity of your organization. It is extremely rare that we do not approve an application, but it does happen. / Non, il existe un processus de sélection basé sur l'intégrité de votre organisation. Il est extrêmement rare que nous n'approuvions pas une candidature, mais cela peut arriver.

Remember, if you are a non-profit, community/volunteer-based organization, a cultural entity, a musical group, or anything in between, we never charge to participate! For companies – whether small or a multinational enterprise, we would love to have you march in our parade for a nominal fee (that pays for the parade and our charities – a “win-win” ;o) / N’oubliez pas que si vous êtes une organisation à but non lucratif, une organisation communautaire ou bénévole, une entité culturelle, un groupe musical ou toute autre organisation, votre participation est toujours gratuite ! Pour les entreprises, qu’elles soient petites ou multinationales, nous serions ravis de vous voir participer à notre défilé pour une somme modique (qui servira à financer le défilé et nos œuvres de bienfaisance, pour une situation « gagnant-gagnant » ;o)
